I first saw “Amadeus” around 1984 when it was first released. Besides being a visual and musical masterpiece of film making, it kick-started my life-long adore of and appreciation for classical music.

I won’t disclose the record synopsis as it’s already been thoroughly described both by Amazon.com’s notable review and multiple customers here already.

I will say though that this edition, ‘The Directors Cut’, is a major improvement over the first DVD release. First, (and finally!!), the movie is now a single-side DVD…gone is the annoying 2 sided ‘flipper’ that the first release was. You can now peek “Amadeus” from inaugurate to accomplish without having to acquire up and turn it over. For my money, that’s reason enough alone to acquire this modern version.

Secondly, ‘The Directors Cut’ now adds about 20-30 minutes of previously deleted scenes, placed befriend into where they were originally intended. Personally I gather some of the newer stuff enhances the tale overall and fills in some details that were left vague in the fresh theatrical release. I won’t give away any details, but there is a modern scene between Mozart’s wife, Constanza, and Salieri, Mozart’s chief musical rival (and secret arch-enemy) early in the movie that puts an whole novel perspective of Salieri’s zigzag and battered psyche.

As for the DVD itself, the relate and sound quality are both exemplary. Included is a second disk with bonus material including interviews and making-of extras.

If you loved the new, you owe it to yourself to choose up this version. If you’re current to classical music and Mozart, this is the best residence to launch.

If you’re a fan of the novel theatrical chop of “Amadeus” you’ll have mixed feelings about the “Director’s Carve”. While I perfer the latter for a number of reasons, the feeling and wander of the unique theatrical version differs somewhat from the “Director’s Carve”. The most principal section are extended scenes that include Salieri agreeing to support Constanze if she has an affair with him. He ends up rejecting her when she shows that she so loves her husband that she would be willing to do so. A number of the opera scenes are extended as well with more business after the demonstrate between Mozart and his leading lady. There’s also a longer sequence moving Salieri’s visit to Mozart comissioning the “Requiem”. Most of the material adds to the power of the film while a few sequences fair give additional benefit tale on various characters. The fresh theatrical version which won an 8 Oscars runs about 25 minutes shorter than the 3 hour “Director’s Carve”. Forman also provide a provocative commentary track for the film along with writer Peter Shaffer (“Equus”) .

The image quality for the “Director’s Carve” is well-behaved to the current theatrical version. The film was restored to its unusual luster for re-release resulting in powerful more natural flesh tones and a sharper visual image as well. The colors which play in principal section in conveying the themes of each sequence are more robust and colorful. The theatrical version looks quite marvelous although it was first issued on DVD as a “flipper” (meaning you had to flip it over) DVD after roughly two hours to survey the last third of the movie. The immense advantage for the theatrical version is Neville Mariner’s win on an isolated track.

The second disc of the “Director’s Slice” has one terrific extra, a brief talent list and the novel theatrical trailer. The salubrious behind-the-scenes documentary covers the highlights and difficulties that Forman faced in translating Shaffer’s stage play to the cover. At nearly 40 minutes it could have provided more background including outtakes, rehearsals and auditions but it’s quite a few documentary as it is. There was plenty of room on the second disc to include Mariner’s isolated get but the documentary is really all we net.

As to which is better–it’s a toss up. Both versions of the film work extremely well although I engage the “Director’s Lop” for the added footage, the sharper more robust image quality and the higher definintion anamorphic transfer. I do miss the isolated Marriner salvage of Mozart’s music that appeared on the fresh disc in 5.1. Given the capacity of the second disc, it could easily have been transferred and would have added value to this special edition.

A legend of envy, lust and madden “Amadeus” focuses on the brief life of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Mozart (Oscar nominee Tom Hulce giving a terrific performance) was a child prodigy who tranquil his first portion at the age of 4 and produced a remarkably titanic body of work for such a brief life. His nemesis is court composer Antonio Salieri (Oscar winner F. Murray Abraham in a mighty performance) . This is really Salieri’s fable as his jealousy drives him to slay Mozart. Salieri is so consumed with his jealousy, that while recognizing the beauty and originality of Mozart’s music, he can’t succor but want to extinguish its creator. Salieri’s quaint compositions can’t maintain a candle to Mozart’s complex, current and bright pieces.

Featuring inspired supporting performances by Christine Ebersole, Jeffrey Jones, Simon Callow (“Three Weddings and a Funeral”), the only performer that doesn’t do anything for me is Elizabeth Berridge as Constanze. She replaced Meg Tilly honest prior to shooting. The resplendent production make, cinematography and attractive direction manufacture “Amadeus: The Director’s Reduce” an experience worth savoring. This deluxe edition features a running commentary by director Milos Forman, writer Peter Shaffer (“Equus”), a large 30 dinky documentary on the making of the movie and a terrific 5.1 Dolby Digital remastered soundtrack. Restored from the unusual film elements, the film hasn’t looked this robust and incandescent in quite some time. The digital anamorphic transfer looks suited and almost rich enough to eat. This version doesn’t replace the new theatrical version but is more of an enhanced experience for those who loved the first film. Since this version runs roughly three hours, be prepared for a long evening.

Highly recommended, this examination of the destructive power of jealousy calm resonates with power, passion and extraordinary music. If you’re not an opera buff, I’d suggest skipping this for, while the film is worthy, fraction of the power comes from appreciating the music that Mozart wrote. We explore a lot of excerpts from a variety of Mozart’s operas throughout the movie. Whichever version of the movie you resolve, you’ll definite to be overjoyed. I’d give the “Director’s Slit” a puny edge for better describe.

“Blown Away” is one of the funniest (not intentional) and sexiest (very intentional) B-movies ever made. In what other film can you win Cory Feldam pulling improper 80’s dance moves and 90 seconds later gaze Nicole Eggert (looking her absolute best) fully de-robing. Nicole engages in no less than five ’scenes’ in this film. Whoah.

GOOD NEWS RE: 93 v. 91 Slight RUNTIME: This DVD ordered from Amazon is the burly, uncut 93 shrimp version of the film. I have seen the VHS version which is missing ~2 minutes of Nicole. That was a vast disappointment. And while the DVD case itself says the running time is 91 minutes, don’t let that fool you: this movie is in its unique and perfect wholeness.

Let’s collect this straight suitable from the launch. The only reason to discover “Blown Away” is if you desperately want to recognize Nicole Eggert or Corey Haim nude. If that is the case, I would highly recommend that you accept a copy of the unrated version. With that out of the procedure, I can declare you that this “thriller” is utterly ridiculous.

Nicole Eggert plays an uncomfortable teenager named Megan. She has a noxious habit of blowing up people she doesn’t like. That even includes her family. Somehow, Megan has got her hands on several bombs with those nifty runt digital readouts on them. Here’s the best section though. These aren’t your regular run-of-the-mill bombs. Nope. These are special ones which explode so completely that there isn’t a sign of them left after they blow up. And all this time I had belief that only guns and drugs were easily attainable in our school system. I guess untraceable explosive devices can be purchased as well.

If you want to notice how droll this movie is, you only have to notice the first couple of minutes. “Blown Away” starts off by showing Megan’s mom driving her car down the road. A bomb is attached to the bottom of her vehicle and KABOOM! it goes off. Unfortunately, the explosion is a minor one and simply causes flames to shoot out of the succor of her car. Fortunately, she loses control of her car and plows into two gas pumps which are conveniently located directly in front of her. No…I am not kidding. The movie continues in this amateurish fashion and the “surprise” ending is only a surprise if you have never seen a thriller before in your entire life.

“Blown Away” was the fourth movie to star Corey Haim and Corey Feldman together. While films such as “The Lost Boys” and “License To Drive” primitive them well together, this movie uses their pairing simply as a gimmick. Kathleen Robertson (“90210″) has a relatively minor role and her presence is completely wasted. Cease away from this one unless your desire to peer Nicole, Corey, or Corey (yes…even Feldman is briefly in the buff) sans clothes.

The 5th and final season of 6FU lets us employ 12 more hours with our friends Nate, David, Ruth, Claire, Brenda, and Keith. Season 5 includes more of the substantial drama, immense acting, and unlit, off-beat humor that 6FU fans worship so distinguished.

Season 5 begins where Season 4 left off: Nate and Brenda have decided to score married and have a baby. As any 6FU fan could guess, neither of these events will go smoothly, nor will the decision to marry effect their relationship suddenly problem-free.

Keith and David want children and are exploring adoption as well as hiring a surrogate. One plan or another, they will become successful in this endeavor, but will secure that a child does not solve all their problems, but rather poses fresh challenges to each of them and their relationship with each other (objective as in valid life) .

Toward the kill of Season 4, Claire was starting to realize but not really procure that she might never be a tremendous artist, and we saw her go down a spiral into depression and excessive drug exhaust. In Season 5, she starts to score a grip. Having dropped out of art school, she gets a popular office job through a temp agency, where she is totally out of her element – her coworkers vote Republican, exhaust Splenda in their Mochaccinos, and hang out at chain restaurants like Chilis and Olive Garden. This storyline results in engaging experiences and personal growth for Claire, and maybe a original relationship with someone she never would have expected to drop in admire with.

Ruth’s storylines mainly involve George. You’ll occupy from Seasons 3 & 4, these two lovebirds rushed into marriage after a very brief but intense infatuation. Then Ruth soon found out all kinds of snide surprises about George – his many ex-wives, his lousy relationship with his children, and most of all, his outrageous mental health problems which effect a gargantuan strain on his and Ruth’s fledgling marriage. In Season 5, Ruth and George go through more changes and eventually decide the interrogate of whether they will finish together.

Something Immense happens in the 8th or 9th episode, which sets up storylines and conflicts for the last 3 episodes. If you care about these characters, it will affect you.

The final episode resolves each main character’s central verbalize or conflict. There is a final gathering at the dinner table and a memorial of sorts, and then the episode leaves you with a very bittersweet feeling as we say goodbye to each of our friends forever.

I do not possess Season 5 is the best season of this genuine reveal. I’m not clear that the writing is as consistently obedient as in past seasons. A few of the characters’ station arcs from previous seasons are recycled in Season 5. For example, how many times do we have to survey Billy go off his meds and become annoying and hazardous to the people who cherish him? Don’t pains, I’m not giving anything away here – you’ll glimpse it coming a mile away. Other multi-episode fable arcs bring passe demons wait on to haunt Nate and David, when we’d opinion they had dealt with and resolved these issues in previous seasons.

But these are relatively minor quibbles. Mostly, Season 5 is very, very great, and a beautiful effect to an outstanding series. After the last episode, you’ll feel dismal that this point to is over, and you’ll miss these characters.

Finally, I assume the sign is draw too high for a mere 12 episodes. HBO is very greedy for charging so grand. Other networks typically charge 40-50 bucks for a season with almost twice as many episodes. At the high prices HBO charges for shows like 6FU and Sopranos, many viewers will opt to rent from Netflix rather than retract, and greedy HBO ends up being worse off in the waste.

The most shiny present of television history was Six Feet Under. This season ends the intention that such a high-brow should and with dignity. The note only ended because Alan Ball is now wanting to form films and net some more well-deserved Oscars. I will not waste the ending but the last episode is monumental and life-altering! John Huston’s film of MOBY DICK is perhaps a rare exception. It’s a broad film in its bear lawful, apart from the colossal original upon which it is based. The case can easily be made that this film does not ‘do justice’ to the book, if only for the reason that it does not hide every aspect of Melville’s modern. But this film proves that a slavish literary imitation is not notable for a large film.

Huston also fought with Ray Bradbury over the screenplay. The colossal science fiction author was literally reduced to tears by the gruff director, and he wrote a book about the experience. There was also some conflict over the casting of Gregory Peck as Ahab. Some say Orson Welles or Leo Genn (Starbuck) would have been a better choice. This may well be, but it should be admitted that Peck rises to the occasion when it’s called for. The immense scene with the Spanish doubloon and the broad scene with Starbuck on the bridge, where Ahab explains his obsession. Few other actors are likely to have surpassed these moments.

According to IMDb, MOBY DICK was shot in 1.66:1 aspect ratio. This DVD does not exhibit the film in that ratio, yet it does not appear to be a pan & scan transfer. The film looks very agreeable and and nothing appears to have been done to tamper with the color. This is most likely how it should see. The director fought with the studio over the color process aged in MOBY DICK: it’s intentional. He and the cinematographer were trying to rob a visual style that would be evocative of a period style of painting that would contribute to the mood of the memoir.

Anyone enthusiastic in background on this film should read THE HUSTONS by Lawrence Grobel. The harrowing production is detailed, with plenty of attention given to the above-mentioned conflicts and also to the shooting of the Fabulous final sequence.

Some extras would have been welcome, but this DVD is more than worth owning by any fan of Melville, Huston or American film.

One of John Huston’s very best films has also been by far his most overlooked and underrated. Preceded by a hilariously dreadful version with John Barrymore (in which Ahab has a like interest and succeeds in killing Moby Dick, who resembles a floating mattress) and later redone as a TV-movie with Patrick Stewart, Huston’s version remains by far the best film of what may be the greatest American sage ever told. The fact that it is level-headed well-remembered proves its lasting power; many other films-from-novels sink correct out of gape. Ray Bradbury’s script captures the essence of Melville’s modern, using his words (and some words so suitable you’d issue they were his) and keeping moral to the vision and the atmosphere, but is never confined to being anything like a mere “adaption”. The best films-from-books transcend their sources and stand as independently immense works. Melville’s recent is grand because it’s unfilmable – messy, rambling, convulted, something you need to use a while digging into; something rich and endlessly rewarding. Any shimmering adapter of such material won’t kill any time trying to copy those elements onto the screen; he’ll go true for the essence of the narrative, what drives it: Ishmael’s spirited search for the unknown and Ahab’s all-consuming quest to confront the unknown – to indicate that God cannot treat him like the Jonah of Orson Welles’ unforgettable sermon, to “strike through the conceal” of the God that torments man. It’s a “despicable book,” as Melville said, and the blasphemous edge survives to the screen; Huston and Bradbury never slow the point but if anything sharpen it. Best of all, they select Fedallah, a character who really is, as Bradbury said, “a bore”; unprejudiced something to suggest that Ahab is cursed like Macbeth – even the ironic prophecies are practically a knock-off of the three witches’. Bradbury instead uses a more subtle, mysterious prophecy spoken through Elijah, a more subtly horrid and eerie character than Fedallah who is objective obsolete as a throwaway in Melville, but here takes on a huge importance. The prophecy is fulfilled stunningly in a final scene that, for me, stands as one of the greatest in film history. It begins with the odd heart-broken and still of the “Symphony” scene, and then progresses fleet to the final fling. Ahab’s destruction seems even more powerfully done here than in the original; isn’t it so profoundly fair that he and the whale should be lashed together forever and ever? The leer of him drowned and chillingly ‘beckoning’ to his crew to follow him is the most haunting moment in the film. There are very few misfires in this film; I would call it one of the best examples of how glorious a movie can be made of an ‘untouchable’ classic. By inequity, the unique TV-remake was a snide misfire. The script was haphazardly faithful to Melville, with some bizarre changes (the Pequod stuck in Antarctic ice? ), a total lack of the atmosphere Huston drenches his film in, and rather anemic performances, with the exception of Patrick Stewart’s fiery version of Ahab. Stewart treated Ahab as a remarkable Shakespearean tragic figure, the procedure he always should have been done. Mild, Gregory Peck’s interpretation shows that he was far from miscast, honest cast unusually. He holds Ahab’s madness down under a brooding darkness and does indeed hold a “deranged dignity,” never lets the epic turn merely absurd. The film ends holding on the floating coffin that saved Ishmael – a typical Huston gesture. But this film is not typical, far from it. If you are unusual to Melville, contemplate it; if you are a Melville purist, begin your mind to something that is very far from a watered-down rewrite of a colossal but dramatically flawed book, something considerable and bewitching in its hold proper.

Besides Becky and Jessie’s relationship intensifying, the three men resolve to go into business together. The kids have their pleasing allotment of storylines also. Michelle has to deal with a school bully, DJ deals with the pressure to be thin, and Stefanie frets about having to wear glasses.

The fourth season is pivotal to the note and if you are a collector of the series on DVD you can’t miss out on Chunky House the Complete Fourth Season. Paunchy House The Complete 4th Season arrives on DVD August 15th.

The classic 1980’s-1990’s sitcom “Beefy House” showed unhurried improvement from Season 1 to Season 2, as well as from Season 2 to Season 3, but I hold that this 4th season is where the series was truly launched as the fun, lighthearted, and wholesome demonstrate that it was. A lot of changes took area, but that same formula of family care for and closeness remained to give “Chunky House” the footing it needed to remain successful.

The three of them were always very cute, and now that they are getting older, the material given to them is becoming stronger and fitting to their talent.

The impressively quick-paced release of these “Rotund House” DVD’s has been very delicious for long-time fans of the series (the first half of the series has already been released!), and with the definite success that the DVD transfer has had, I am determined we can view forward to seeing Seasons 5-8 in the reach future!

After getting over the initial shock of seeing half the cast of Chicago Hope (when it was composed a proper demonstrate…and not the pale imitation of itself that it later became: Alan Arkin, Mandy Patinkin, Christine Lahti), this movie evolves into a delicate, calm, character driven drama. There are no sizable heroics, apart from June (Elizabeth Perkins), and even those are right, not manipulative, cliched, corny or definite.

This is a movie that works to accomplish its characters and situation simultaneously and without artifice or certain (groanable/cringe inducing) status devices. None of them are in anwyay what you would call ‘extreme’ or cliched. They are fair very normal people placed is a very stressful situation- the doctor being diagnosed with a growth in his throat and the changes in many lives this growth causes. The changes are both noble, dreadful and ‘educational’ for most of them. The subplot- hospitals, statistics, malpractice cases, protecting each other- is subdued, never moralized or sermonized on but explored in a diagram whereby you can develop your absorb judgements, based on some realistics situations (imagine a set where somebody’s life was worth less than $1000) . The cast compliment each other and really connect. This movie is quite subtle at times and doesn’t exercise in your face methods to fabricate a point.

This is a movie then that is impartial, beautifully made, accessible and at times really droll, and at times really raw and saddening. It isn’t an episode of ER. So if you’re looking for high medical drama glance elsewhere. But if you’re looking for actual multi-layered human drama then ogle here. Honesty is the key word and theme in the movie (which if you peep it you’ll understand what I mean) . Honesty to oneself, others and unprejudiced to the view in general. And how too, sometimes we salvage spiritual and psychological ‘healing’ in the midst of the greatest physical effort.

The DVD contains no special features, only the movie, scene selection and set-up. Though it was made in 1990, it doesn’t gaze too dated (apart from the cell-phones) .

I have to admit watching this movie, I looked at the clock on the DVD player and actually hoped it wouldn’t raze. How many movies can you say that about?

I judge the best moment in the myth is when the doctor reads the narrative June gave him. I consider there is a lesson in that that is relevant to all of us. Hopefully you’ll regain the opportunity to peep what I mean by watching this movie.

SO in all, a lustrous, fascinating, poignant and right human drama built around believeable characters doing normal things and suffering typical tragedies that are tall in our absorb lives. These are people we can understand and portray to, not the superficial and stereotypical larger-than-life, weirder-than-fiction characters designed to play with our minds and strum on our heartstrings. These people do touch your heart and mind for the just reasons…And maybe, if only for a moment, it causes you to put a question to and reassess how you deal with others and the face you show the world, then maybe it has helped heal you a petite bit too…If you need it, as most of us do.

Every doctor – and every patient! – should explore this movie; the disagreement is that, not all doctors will understand *why* they should peruse it..

I exercise The Doctor when teaching my medical students how to avoid becoming a determined kind of doctor; the kind who is so unexcited from humanity that they never feel anything of the harm, scare – and the hope – that their patients feel. They have forgotten how to care, and they don’t care to remember it.

This is a film about a medical `Everyman`; Jack (played by William Damage with expansive integrity and skill) is redeemed as a human being – and as a doctor – by his beget experience of serious illness, and by that of his friend – her death frees him from the blinkers of self-absorption. The scene where the two of them dance in the Nevada desert is breathtaking.

Supporting cast are excellent; especially Mandy Patinkin as Jack’s unscrupulous surgical partner. Jack’s initially dysfunctional family life is a central allotment of this movie, and the roles of his wife and son are well played.

The last scenes are amongst the best; especially where Jack is explaining to his interns why they are going to exercise the next 24 hours not as doctors, but as hospital patients – wearing hospital gowns, undergoing all the appropriate tests, and (terror of horrors) eating hospital food.

The following and final scene is simply pleasing, as Jack stands on the roof of the hospital and dances by himself, revived and renewed.

I am an avid watcher of the Criminal Minds series and I would have to say that this is the best season yet and it isn’t even over with. It is not very often that one can say that every single episode was absolutely unbelievable. Although there was one episode which didn’t meet up to the standards of the rest.

As for the rest of the season, thanks to improbable writers and directors, this note has managed to display me things I never plan possible. For example, I am extinct to seeing James Alexander as creepy, I reflect that was the whole point of George on Seinfield. But the character that Jason Alexander played was truly fantastic, creepy in objective the apt device, but truly an unsub good of the team.

One shadow I do have about this season was the appearance of the character Jordan. At her first appearance and initial interaction with Morgan you occupy that this character could uphold the standard that J.J., actress A.J. Cook, carries out in her performance. But sadly after the first spark, her performance is quite a disappoint. In fact, I usually watched the episode in hopes of avoiding her character all together. Perphaps I am fair to fond of J.J.’s character and idea biasedly at seeing her go. But I don’t doubt the relief I felt as seeing her return.

I can’t wait to peep the final shows of the season and I already concept on purchasing the DVD when it comes availble. I hightly recommend it to those looking for intrigue, humor and drama all in one demonstrate.

I am an avid watcher and fan of “Criminal Minds.” The 4th season is phenomenal. Every season I say to myself, “It can’t regain any better than this,” and every season it goes above and beyond the previous one. Hard to maintain, but factual. The season finale this time was ghastly!!!! It is worth it honest to regain the 4th season to contemplate the final episode!!!

I have the Blu-ray Washington the Fine in High Definition and it is astonishing. So I was indignant to engage Over California. NO comparison! Over California was filmed in the early 90’s, awful quality and very dated

I managed to rep my copy for $9.99. It was filmed in 1994. Apparently the recording is in 1080i although that means nothing to me because my flatscreen is 720p. It’s encoded in MPEG-2 but they maxed out the bitrate and it looks lovely darn generous. For the designate, it’s a really smart demo with the only con being the elevator music.
